Our Salmon of Knowledge wall hanging is based on the Salmon featured on our large Glens Of Antrim piece. The original had been hand burned and was inspired by Belfast's most famous fish, and featured in our documentary ' A Breath Of Fresh Air'
In Irish mythology, the Salmon of Knowledge
gained all the world's wisdom by eating hazelnuts from the Well of Wisdom. A prophecy stated the first person to eat the
fish would acquire this wisdom.
Finn McCool (Fionn mac Cumhaill)
In the river Boyne the Salmon dwelt, and it was here
a young warrior named Fionn caught and by accident ate the Salmon. Fionn went on to become leader of the
Fianna and the greatest warrior they had ever known.
